True Treasures

Been on a writing kick last week, wrote 2 poems and a song...yes, a song ;)  Feeling my creativity returning, loving to write and enjoying the work with rhyming and fitting words and thoughts together.  Been way too long, and I have Ben's cousins to thank for dragging it back out of me!  So here's the short one I wrote to and about my True Treasures...those who uplift me and are so dear to me and mine...love ya! 


True Treasures

There are those who will hurt you with their lies
Condemn, tear down, belittle, and criticize,
What you stand for, what path you choose,
Makes no difference your “why”, they win, you lose.

There are those who care and are kind--true friends,
Who will affirm, build up, a blessing to the end.
Who will listen, advise, encourage without stop,
Love unconditionally and support even when you flop.

Does no good to listen and hang on to complainers
Just cut ties from those negative energy drainers.
Keep close to your heart those who understand you well
Who share your laughter, tears and secrets to tell.

For whom secrets stay secrets with them indeed,
Quick to protect, defend, always there when you need.
These truest of friends who lift up when you’re down
Are rare treasures to hold dear, when they are found.
